OMR or Optical Mark Recognition is utilized for reading information passages via reading or scanning a specific style of document page designed to be read by an OMR scanner. The present versions of OMR scanners work by a dedicated scanner device which shines a beam of light over the document. The contrasting reflectivity at pre-set locations on the page is then used to further recognize the marked areas working on the principle that they would reflect less light than the unmarked areas on the document.
